Tens of thousands of pieces of hand artwork are decorated by young children, teachers, and families, and hung throughout the Capitol Rotunda each year during Children’s Week Florida. This Celebration of the Hands honors the annual tradition of the Hanging of the Hands which began in 1986.
“Hand art” is decorated by children and their teachers, and collected at child care centers and schools across the state. The hands hang in the Capitol Rotunda as a reminder to legislators and advocates that we must take care of our most precious commodity – our children.
Schools, child care centers, and individuals from across the state have been submitting hands to hang at the Capitol for many years, and we encourage everyone to participate in this time honored tradition.
