Orange County Council is the direct line of support and resource to all PTA & PTSA units within Orange County, Florida.
We need a team of parents/guardians, teachers, students, and community partner volunteers to be able to assist and strengthen local PTA & PTSA units.
Please consider volunteering your time and sharing your talents for the benefit of students in Orange County.
The Executive Committee is charged with appointing the Board of Directors of the County Council. Chair Applications for consideration are open.
Standing Committees
Advocacy/Legislation
The Committee Chair will develop a plan of work to continue one of the PTA purposes, “secure adequate policies for the care and protection of children and youth”. In this plan, the committee will promote educational health and wellbeing of all children and bring awareness to the need for advocacy at all levels – city or county government, local School Board, and the Florida Legislature. The committee shall plan and promote our annual “Rally to Tally” student-centered bus trip to the state Capital or a comparable local event.
Communications
The Committee Chair will be responsible for developing a communication plan of work to promote OCCPTA. Based on our goals, programs, policies, and activities, this will include, but is not limited to, newsletters, social media, website information, and whenever possible, present material in multiple languages. Review proper branding and use of our PTA logo. Technology, website maintenance, and communication skills are necessary.
Diversity, Equality, Inclusion & Justice
The Committee Chair will create a plan of work to train PTA leaders on how to reach out and involve our under-represented population, families of students participating in ESE programs, members of the LGBTQ community, dual-income families, as well as people (other than parents) who serve as the primary caregivers.
Family and Community Engagement
The Committee Chair will create a plan of work to impact Family and Community engagement in our County. The plan will work to build closer relationships between home and school by creating opportunities for authentic family engagement while supporting academic success. In addition, by working closely with other school and community leaders, we will develop a culture of inclusion that makes family-school-community partnerships a top priority
Local Unit Coaches
The Committee Chair will work with members to develop a plan of work to assist local units by providing resources and guidance on compliance and operational procedures.
Membership
The Committee Chair will develop a plan of work to increase overall PTA membership in Orange County; work with VP over Membership and Treasurer to maintain OCCPTA county dues roster, and ensure all units are compliant with Florida PTA dues.
Reflections
The Community Chair will create a plan of work to execute the National PTA Reflections program. OCCPTA will also promote and support other year-round student-centered cultural arts – Dance, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, Film/Video, and Photography.
Scholarships & Awards
The Committee Chair will be responsible for a plan of work that will detail the submission and judging process for County Council local unit awards and the planning and execution of the Council’s Annual Awards Ceremony and Banquet. The Committee Chair will also create a plan of action to promote our OCCPTA scholarship; work with a team to evaluate scholarship applications; and identify ways to secure money for the Scholarship fund.
Student Involvement
The Committee Chair will be responsible for creating a plan of work to engage and work with student members from middle and high school to help promote PTA’s mission and programs.

The Committee Chair will research and draft any County resolutions that the Board decides to submit to State or National PTA.
Sponsorships & Grants
The Committee Chair will be responsible for securing sponsors for the Council, events, and vendors as per established contracts. The committee will also seek grant funding for OCCPTA programs and initiatives. They would ensure that the County Council meets the obligations of the contracts and grants.
