National PTA Reflections

Explore the Arts and Express Yourself

For more than 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.

Student winners from the local level have the opportunity to move up through their district, region, council and state PTA programs to the national level. State and National Reflections winners are celebrated annually at the Florida PTA Annual Reflections Awards in April & National PTA’s Convention & Expo in June.

All students attending PTA schools sponsoring the program are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas (click on the category for instructions):

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:

Unleash creative talents and be inspired Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork Experience the fun and joy of making art Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

Congratulations to the winner of the Annual Theme Search Contest: Paige Opaska from Barbara Bush Middle School PTA in Texas who created this year’s Reflections theme.

Your PTA/PTSA is required to be in compliance for entries to be considered. OCCPTA does not receive any funds from Florida PTA or National PTA. Your PTA/PTSA unit’s County Council dues allows programs like these to be offered to students of Orange County.

How to Participate

Download the Local Leader’s Guide and the Student Packet Template and customize your unit’s information. Submit your entry to your local unit Reflections Chair. Any questions concerning participation, rules or just getting started can be forwarded to the OCCPTA Reflections Chairperson at [email protected]

If a student attends a school that does not sponsor the National PTA Reflection Program, please email the Sunshine State PTSA at [email protected] for information on submitting an entry through this PTSA.
